My story. My passion.
Hi, I’m Danie.
Danie Knots didn’t just start with yarn — it started with a lifelong need to make things with my hands.
As a kid, I was the one walking into toy stores and skipping right past the usual toys. I didn’t want dolls or games — I wanted the kits. The bead sets, the stamp kits, anything that let me create something from nothing. If it involved making, building, or designing, I was all in.
Growing up that never really went away.
By the time I was a teenager, I found myself in a fashion class, was asked to choose a direction — a type of fashion to explore. Instead of following a path I already knew, I decided to teach myself something completely new. In 10th grade, I picked up crochet and knitting… and that was it. Something clicked.
At the same time, I always knew I wanted to build something of my own. I’ve had that entrepreneurial spirit for as long as I can remember — from selling candy in middle school (not just for fundraisers), setting up little sales at my grandmother's yearly garagesales, always finding some kind of side hustle. I loved the idea of creating something and sharing it with people.
But I never felt fully settled in just one thing — until now.
Crochet — and designing my own patterns — became the place where everything came together. The creativity, the hands-on process, the freedom to experiment. That’s where Danie Knots was really born.
Today, my work is rooted in that same love of creating, but with even more intention. I gravitate toward scraps, rescued yarn, and materials that others might overlook. I let the materials lead, which means every finished piece is completely one-of-a-kind. No two will ever be the same — and that’s exactly the point.
My patterns are an extension of that. They’re made to be flexible, to encourage play, and to help you use what you already have — not what you think you need.
And while yarn is at the heart of what I do, it’s not the only thing. Creativity doesn’t stay in one lane for me. As an AuDHD artist, what I’m working on can shift and evolve — so my drops might include a mix of mediums, ideas, and experiments that have captured my attention along the way. And this is what inspired justDaniethings.
Because for me, making isn’t just one thing — it’s everything.
This space is built slowly, intentionally, and with a whole lot of heart — while balancing the beautifully messy reality of motherhood and running a small business.
Thank you for being here.
For supporting small.
For supporting my family.
And for believing in work that’s thoughtful, imperfect, and made by hand.
Welcome in. Stay cozy.
